Elche hosts important annual sporting events, such as the Half Marathon of the City of Elche, the oldest in the world, the Torrellano Handball Tournament, the Waterpolo KidsTour or the Olympic Triathlon of Elche. And there are many routes and annual events for hiking lovers to enjoy, such as the Transilicitana or the Ruta de las Ermitas del Camp d’Elx.

Elche and its villages have numerous sports facilities where the numerous federated teams are based, which take part in leagues of all sports on a local, autonomous community and national level.

And in the highest national categories of their respective leagues, taking the football stadium of the green stripe to the very top, are the Elche Club de Fútbol and the female Club Balonmano Elche, champions of Europe.
