Elche is an industrial hub and one of the most dynamic cities in urban and demographic growth and social and economic development of Spain. It holds a central position in the Spanish Mediterranean Basin, it is one of the key areas of European development and structuring that is made up of Catalonia, the Valencian Community, the Balearic Islands, the Region of Murcia and Andalusia.

Given its strategic position, it has excellent access and connections to land, air and sea transport infrastructures for people and freight.

Elche by land...

…by car, bus or train

Elche is known for its outstanding road network for land transport:

  • The A-31 dual carriageway takes us to Madrid, to the centre, the west and the north parts of the country.
  • The AP-7 dual carriageway goes to Andalusia, passing by Murcia.
  • And on the A-7 motorway (Mediterranean Corridor) we get to Algeciras in the south and to France in the north, passing by Valencia and Barcelona.
  • The city is connected to Alicante on the road known as Via Parque Alicante-Elche CV-86, on the national road CN-340, the motorway A-7 and the Dual Carriageway AP-7.

The Elche Bus Station is strategically located in the city centre with quick connections in all directions. Nine companies currently operate in it, with bus services to eight provincial destinations, seven national destinations to the main Spanish cities and one international destination.

More information

The High Speed Train Station of Elche (AVE) is just a few minutes away from the city. If you don’t want to use the car, there are taxi stands and the Elche Urban Bus stops in it, with a line that connects it to the city centre. In barely two hours you will be in Madrid and in just twenty minutes in Murcia.

Elche has two RENFE stations in the city centre, which join Alicante and Murcia by means of high speed trains. The local commuter train services of the Elche train stations are supplemented by the long distance services of the Alicante train station: Madrid, Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria, Barcelona and Valencia.

Plans are being made to widen the Elche urban tunnel at the moment, which will give the AVE high speed train access to the Elche-Parque train station and there will be a stop in the Alicante-Elche Airport in the near future too.
